Are you getting many leads from your website? Are your customers buying your product or service through your site? Are you customers returning to your site? If you answer was “No” to any of these questions, then you need to pay close attention to this blog post and take action now.
There are many strategies and tactics to optimize your website to sell more and increase traffic. Whether the ultimate goal of your website is to sell or provide information about your company, the following tips will help accomplish just that.
Here a couple of quick tips on how to improve your site:
Call-to-Action Buttons or Links
Many website owners often overlook having a call to action button or link on their site. A call-to-action button or link enable your website visitors to take some planned action. For instance, you can have a call-to-action link that allows them to get in touch with you. You might also have another call-to-action for visitors to submit a quote request.
Do not let your visitors or prospect clients leave your website without taking some sort of action. I would also recommend you have your call-to-action button or link visible from any page within your site.
Assuming your website goal is to sell your services or obtain leads, then it’s essential that you create content for your website that’s persuasive. By persuasive, I mean content that will make your site visitors buy your services or call you to request more information.
In order to write persuasive content, you first need to understand your website visitors. You need to know what they’re searching for and what their needs are. You can read more on this in one of my previous blog posts. Once you know this information, you can then write content that provides solutions to their problems and answer to their possible questions.
Providing useful information that they can use will help you attract more clients and keep them coming back for more. Therefore, increasing your website traffic.
Single Page Checkout (if you have a shopping cart in your website)
If you have a shopping cart on your website or you’re selling a product/service, consider having a single page checkout. Many website visitors abandon lengthy checkout processes because it takes too long and have too many steps. Avoid your site visitors from leaving your checkout process by providing a better checkout experience and eliminating unnecessary steps. Allow them to complete their order in a single page. From this single page, they can enter their billing, credit card and shipping information (if necessary).
In addition, keep in mind that many of your website visitors might be visiting your site from a mobile device. You might consider creating a different experience for your mobile visitors. Mobile Internet usage doubles every year. Therefore, there is high probability that many of your site visitors are visiting your site from a mobile device. If you have Google analytics setup in your site, you can view a report that shows you information on your website visitors devices.
Contact Information Visible in Every Single Page
There have been many times where I personally visited a site and needed to get in touch with the website owner or website master and didn’t find their contact information. Do not make this mistake. Make it easy for your visitors to find your contact information. Make sure your phone number and/or business address is visible from every page.
I would suggest adding your contact information in the header (or top section) of your website. In addition, I will include it in the footer. This is not a standard per say, however must website visitors expect to see contact information in those two locations.
This last tip might or might not apply to your website. Although, it doesn’t matter what your website goal is, having a live chat is essential and beneficial for your visitors. I can’t give you a percent or statistic, but I would say that many website visitors might have last minute questions regarding your product and if they don’t get a quick answer they abandon the site. Having a live chat in your site, will help answers your visitors’ questions quickly.
Whether your goal is to sell your products (and services) or provide information about your business through your website, these tips will help sell more and increase traffic. Apply these tips and you will see a boost in your website conversion rates.
